The Town has the right to reject any solid waste containing recyclables.
GLASS - Clear
Bottles and Jars only
Rinse, clean and remove all metal or plastic caps and rings. Labels may be left on. This does not include light bulbs, dishes, ceramics, mirrors, plate glass or Pyrex.
GLASS - Colored
Bottles & Jars only
Handled same as above.
PLASTIC
Milk & Water container
Bleach bottles, colored detergent or fabric softener bottles, etc.
Any container that comes to a neck, look for the Code #2 symbol on the bottom. Any containers #2 that are a tub are not allowed. Remove all metal or plastic caps and rings. Rinse the container clean. Please flatten containers.
Does not include: plastic or metal caps, rings, bottles that are clear and glossy.
MIXED PAPER
All mail, office paper and food boxes.
Must be clean and dry
DO NOT INCLUDE: Any foil or glitter products, magazines, newspapers, milk and juice containers, freezer food boxes, soda & beer cartons, carbon paper, dog & cat food bags or brown paper bags or any food-contaminated paper.
TIN CANS
Tin cans and lids - all cans can be mixed together. Must be clean and have the label removed.
DO NOT INCLUDE: Paint or aerosol cans.
NEWSPAPER
Must be clean and dry
Newspapers, including all the glossy supplements that are with the paper. Magazines, catalogs & phone books. CORRUGATED CARDBOARD
Must be clean and dry
Only corrugated cardboard & brown paper bags are allowed. Boxes must be clean, dry & broken flat. DO NOT INCLUDE: Cereal, egg or shoe boxes. These are mixed paper.
OTHER RULES
- Metal into the metal pile
- Brush into the clean wood
- Painted wood separate
- Rakings into the compost pile.
Certain other bulky waste items go to the Jay Transfer Station
